Plastic Girl DeiDei Clonette Dolls Squeakers

These dolls originated in Ghana during the colonial era & were the first industrially produced dolls in Africa.
Inspired by traditional woven dolls usually made from wood, grass & fabric.

Today they are made from recycled plastic.  The doll may include little deviations in color and streaks, and often the "imperfect" dolls are highly sought after.

 These brightly colored dolls can still be seen at market stalls in West Africa but production is very limited.

Clonette Dolls are now used for decorative & collector's item pieces which come in a variety of colors & different sizes.  These clonette dolls include a little squeaker, which gives a little squeak when the doll is gently pressed.
